Learn how to reverse chronic diseases May 22

Tue, 05/14/2019 - 8:15am

On Wednesday, May 22, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Community Center in the Meadow Mall, Boothbay Harbor, the Empowered Patients Group will continue their discussion of the common themes in the research of Drs. Dale Bredesen, Dean Ornish and Andrew Weil.

These three physicians have learned to reverse many chronic diseases through integrative and lifestyle medicine. These three noted doctors — all well-known for their deep research and experience over decades — have come to similar conclusions. In their three most recent books, “The End of Alzheimer's” by Dr. Dale Bredesen, “UnDoIt!” by Dean and Anne Ornish, and “Mind Over Meds” by Dr. Andrew Weil, they all show that chronic diseases such as Alzheimer's, arthritis, cancers, diabetes, heart disease, can be ameliorated, and often even reversed, through changes in our lifestyles, such as better sleep, diet, nutrition and stress management.

Come explore the commonalities in all of these experts' approaches. We'll watch videos, reach from their books, look at their nutrition programs and discuss our own experiences.

The Empowered Patients' group meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month and is co-sponsored by the Boothbay Region Health Center and the Community Center. Meetings are free and open to all. Feel free to bring your own lunch.
