The tents started going up on the Boothbay Common for the 60th Annual Rotary Auction on Thursday, Aug. 3 for the Saturday, Aug. 5 event held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event draws scores of folks; locally and regionally looking for new treasures while supporting the local Rotary club. Donors have contributed furniture for all rooms in the home, outdoor furniture, home decor, glassware, dishware, books, power tools, kid toys, games, boats, cars ... and oh so much more.

This year’s auction chairmen, Henry Wyatt and Margaret “Margee” Spratt, worked with Rotarians and community volunteers during set up — Henry on the Common and Margee in the Barn at the Clubhouse.

The live auction will be conducted by auctioneer Bob Foster of Foster Antiques. Foster donates his time for this event, the Rotary Club’s major fundraiser.

To address the parking challenges presented by the construction,  a shuttle from the Y began transporting auction goers at  7:30 a.m. with the last trip at 2 p.m.

This annual auction supports many of the Rotary’s charitable donations — and there are many — to local groups and projects in Boothbay Harbor and worldwide Rotary causes.
