The first-ever Spooktacular at Boothbay Railway Village drew hundreds of children dressed in this year’s Halloween costumes on Friday night, Oct. 26. Rescheduled and reworked due to Saturday’s forecast of rain and wind, the event was much enjoyed by all, despite the cool temperatures in the low-30s.

There were many activities for the kids to enjoy around the Village green and in the old town hall. Popcorn, hot dogs, pizza, hot chocolate, several kinds of chili and more provided sustenance during the 4 to 8 p.m. event. Candy was handed out at various set-ups and kids burned off some of their energy in three bounce houses.

The Village train ran throughout the four hours and some volunteer ghosts, goblins and other scary creatures – including two dinosaurs – mingled near the station on the hill and further down the track as they looked to put a little scare into the train passengers.
